Herring Brook Hill

Located in Norwell, Herring Brook hill provides renters age 60+ with 18 rental apartments, all affordable to households earning up to 30%, 80% and 100% of the Area Median Income. The development includes a mix of one- and two-bedroom configurations, as well as solar photovoltaic rooftop arrays.

Herring Brook Hill was completed through close collaboration with the Town of Hudson. In 2015, the Norwell Community Housing Trust met with residents and obtained, through Town Meeting, an agreement to commit $1 million in Community Preservation Act and other local funds towards the redevelopment of the site of the former Police Station site located at 40 River Street. as affordable housing for seniors age 60+. The project was awarded, via a competitive Request for Proposals process to Metro West CD in March 2016 and construction was completed in 2019.

Herring Brook Hill received extensive support from the Commonwealth’s Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC), as well as CEDAC and Eastern Bank.

Along with Metro West CD, the project team for Herring Brook Hill included Resolution Architects and Curtis Construction.
