Four more units in Lexington!

The Town of Lexington will add four more units of affordable housing to its Subsidized Housing Inventory this year because of the determination of the Lexington Housing Assistance Board (LexHAB).

Fairview Ave. is the latest effort in LexHAB’s 30+ year history of constructing and renovating homes for low and moderate income households. LexHAB continues to own the homes as rental housing and operates largely on volunteer labor.

Metro West CD was asked to help them assemble and shepherd a Local Initiative Program application (a.k.a. “Friendly 40B”) for the zoning approvals for Fairview Ave. The project renovates an existing single family home and creates a new three-family home next door. The new home will be built by Transformations, Inc., a company specializing in net-zero homes.

The project has recently received final approval from the Department of Housing and Community Development and will begin construction soon. Metro West CD will help implement the affirmative marketing plan so that later this year four families will have a beautiful new place to call home. And with this project, Metro West CD’s “Getting to 10% Campaign” marks its first step forward.
