CAN-DO, Citizens for Affordable Housing in Newton Development Organization, Inc., is a community-based non-profit developer of affordable housing for individuals and families with low and moderate incomes. Founded in 1994, CAN-DO has developed 48 units of housing and currently manages 33 rental units, which serve a diverse population including individuals with developmental disabilities, formerly homeless families and veterans. Early in 2017 CAN-DO affiliated with regional community developer Metro West Collaborative Development. Metro West CD helps provide staffing and other support to keep the mission and purpose of CAN-DO very much alive in Newton.
